4, 3, 2, 1, dude.

00:00:10

First of all, what possessed you to want to swim around the entire UK?

00:00:19

How many thousands of miles is that?

00:00:21

Yeah, 2,000 miles altogether.

00:00:24

2,000 miles of swimming.

00:00:26

Yeah, yeah.

00:00:27

It seemed like a good idea at the time, and then halfway around I realised how big Great Britain was.

00:00:32

You've done some long swims before, but not like nothing even remotely.

00:00:39

Like what's the longest swim you did before this?

00:00:41

Yeah, I did, this is a bit of a strange story.

00:00:43

I tried to swim between St. Lucia and Martinique, two Caribbean islands.

00:00:48

It's only 40 kilometres from point to point.

00:00:50

For charity, I was trying to swim from point to point with a 100 pound tree attached to my trunks.

00:00:57

So I was pulling the 100 pound tree, 6 foot waves crashing down, and I actually didn't make it from point to point.

00:01:03

I was like 5 kilometres from the end.

00:01:05

When I didn't make it, I decided to swim back the other way.

00:01:09

So I ended up swimming over 100 kilometres with a 100 pound tree.

00:01:14

It took me 32 hours, but still didn't make it.

00:01:18

What went wrong where you didn't make it?

00:01:20

Tides, currents, you know.
